Main backer of non-profit group financing the Ground Zero mosque worked for security contractor with ties to CIA and counterterrorism

One of the earliest backers of the nonprofit group, the Cordoba Initiative, that is spearheading the Ground Zero mosque, is a 52-year-old Scarsdale, New York, native named R. Leslie Deak.
In addition to serving on the group's board of advisors since its founding in 2004 by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, Deak was its principal funder, donating $98,000 to the nonprofit between 2006 and 2008. This figure appears to represent organization's total operating budget--though, oddly, the group reported receipts of just a third of that total during the same time period.
Leslie Deak's resume also notes his role as "business consultant" for Patriot Defense Group, LLC, a private defense contractor with offices in Winter Park, Florida, and in Tucson.
The only names listed on the firm's website are those of its three "strategic advisers."
These include retired four-star General Bryan "Doug" Brown[5], commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command until 2007, where he headed "all special operations forces, both active duty and reserve, leading the Global War On Terrorism," and James Pavitt, former deputy director for operations at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he "managed the CIA's globally deployed personnel and nearly half of its multi-billion dollar budget" and "served as head of America's Clandestine Service, the CIA's operational response to the attacks of September 11, 2001."
Besides Pavitt, Brown and a third advisor, banker Alexander Cappello, the Patriot Defense Group is so secretive it doesn't even name its management team, instead describing its anonymous CEO as a former Special Forces and State Department veteran, the group's managing director as a former CIA officer experienced in counter-terrorism in hostile environments and the group's corporate intelligence head as a "23-year veteran of the U.S. Secret Service who worked on the personal security details of former Presidents Bush and Clinton."
So, to recap: From 2006 to 2008, R. Leslie Deak worked as a "business consultant" to this super-secretive security contractor with ties to the CIA and counterterrorism forces, and in those same three years he also donated nearly $100,000 in seed money to the foundation now advocating the construction of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque.
Interestingly, during the same three-year period during which the Deak Family Foundation was financing the Cordoba Initiative, Deak also donated a total of $101,247 to something called the National Defense University Foundation. The National Defense University is a network of war and strategy colleges and research centers (including the National War College) funded by the Pentagon, designed to train specialists in military strategy.
The organization recently announced a November 5 dinner gala[8] in honor of Defense Secretary and former CIA chief Robert Gates. Sponsors include Northrup Grumman, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and...the Patriot Defense Group.

Since we have no clue whatsoever as to what is discussed in these secretive sessions (unless we trust 'leaks'), and given that these people are globalists (which isn't necessarily bad), it would be quite reasonable to hypothesize that the reason for the secrecy is that the participants would be embarrassed if what they discussed in this meeting was made public.

In other words, certain stakeholders in society would probably be quite hostile to the content of these discussions.

Still nothing too tragic, as this is pretty much the definition of politics.

A problem could arise if it could be conclusively *proven* that policy decisions are being made in Bilderberg that are then being implemented.
But then again, politicians should be free to consult with whoever they want.
If their policies are bad or ineffective we can vote them out of office.

We should be more concerned with people who have immense power over the financial system and don't answer to anyone.

To conclude: it is quite easy with some basic research to get a good glimpse of what these globalist discussions are about as some relevant information is easily found in the public domain.

Carroll Quigley was a professor of history in Harvard, Princeton and Georgetown.
Obviously anyone who would dare dismiss him as some sort of a loon would have to provide some very serious evidence, which I somehow don't think is very likely.

BA has increased the price of long-haul tickets from airports where customers remain stranded following the volcanic eruption in Iceland, placing them on sale to other travellers for as much as £4,700.

Passengers stuck in India, China and the US said the earliest flights they have been offered leave more than two weeks from now even though the airline has put on sale tickets for flights that depart sooner. Many are furious the seats have been placed on the open market when they are desperate to get home and are facing increasingly chaotic situations.

At Delhi airport today, dozens of stranded BA passengers queued for several hours in intense heat for only a handful of seats. Some are said to be running out of medicines for chronic illnesses while the most desperate are sleeping on terminal floors in an effort to get the first available seats home.

Tonight BA denied allegations it is profiteering by putting the seats on sale and said it was unavoidable because of the technicalities of its booking system and that the tickets could be reserved by stranded passengers for free.

The airline said: "To protect seats for BA customers who had their flight cancelled because of the closure, we have priced all available seats at the highest fares specifically to discourage new customers from buying them." It also claimed the high prices were intended to prevent travel agents and other airlines buying up tickets, thereby denying BA customers a route home.

But with stranded customers experiencing extreme difficulties accessing tickets because of reservation phonelines taking three hours to connect and problems with accessing the BA website from airports, that explanation was greeted with scepticism amid confusion about how the company was handling the allocation of seats.

"It is pure greed," said Erica Weald, an academic at the London School of Economics who was told her earliest replacement flight from Mumbai would be on 6 May. "If they were interested in getting people back, they would just freeze all the seats. They told us initially they would not sell new seats. People are so desperate somebody will pay that money to get back."

She said just four of the 60 stranded passengers who managed to get into the airport to try to catch Thursday's flight to London were given seats. There were more stranded passengers who couldn't get into the airport because you need a boarding pass or to bribe a security guard to get in, she added.

Saleem Althaf, an accident and emergency doctor stranded in Chennai, tried to buy one of the tickets but was told by BA in India the flights were exclusively for new customers, advice which BA in London said was wrong.

BA said putting all available seats on open sale was "the only technical solution we had available to us to help rebook as many of our own customers as possible on to each flight".

"Our stranded customers are not being asked to pay anything extra when we rebook them," it said. "Our best advice to customers who want to return sooner than their rebooking date is to keep checking on ba.com, contacting British Airways directly or your travel agent to see if an earlier option has become available. We deeply regret the distress and disruption our customers are suffering and we thank them for the patience they are showing."

Norman Baker, the Liberal Democrats transport spokesman, said BA's decision to put tickets on sale was "insensitive at best, insulting at worst".

"The priority of the airline should be to get stranded people back," he said. "One wonders if BA's strategy of putting up the prices is to encourage people who are stranded to buy a ticket again at a much greater price to get back more quickly."

Theresa Villiers, the shadow transport secretary, said: "I have today urged BA to do all they can for customers stranded abroad, after what will have been a week from hell for thousands of families. I believe it is vital for all airlines to make it a top priority to get these people home."

Ryanair said today it was likely to have cleared the backlog of disrupted passengers by tomorrow and scheduled three extra flights from Spain to London and Dublin. The Civil Aviation Authority said the operational situation now appears to be stabilising following Met Office advice the volcanic ash cloud is moving north. Extra easyJet flights from Corfu and Gran Canaria were due to land in the UK tonight. The airline said it had leased several extra planes and trebled the size of its call centre to cope with the backlog.

Money as debt - what is money? How is it created?

Money, like any commodity, derives its value from how much of it is in circulation (i.e. from the size of the money supply).

The bigger the money supply (i.e. the total quantity of money in circulation), the more diluted and less valuable £1 becomes.

The reason for this is simple: with more money around chasing the goods and services of an economy, prices tend to go up.
Prices are a consequence of the size of the money supply, and not the other way around. We'll come back to this point.

Now, crucially, the money supply in our monetary system is 95% debt.

Loans, mortgages and the like.

Money in our monetary system is created as debt by banks, out of thin air, whenever a new loan contract is signed.

The money creation process is a simple accounting ledger entry on a computer screen: the borrower's account is credited with the amount of the loan, and, out of nowhere, new money comes into existence.

It is legal counterfeiting, pure and simple.

Note that when the loan contract is signed, it is not only the borrower that comes to the transaction empty-handed, but also the bank.

This is why, for example, the bank doesn't first buy the collateral (e.g. the house) that is pledged and then sell it to the borrower: the bank is also coming to the loan transaction empty-handed.

A loan contract is simply an exchange of promises:
- the borrower promises to pay principal plus interest, and
- the bank credits her account with an electronic accounting entry for the amount of the principal (this is the bank's promise to pay the borrower).

And, out of nothing, and as a result of this exchange of promises, new debt (or 'checkbook') money has been created in the borrower's account. Pure magic.

Note also that the lenders are collecting interest for this 'money' that was created as debt out of thin air.

Of course this new debt money can then be used to buy real goods and services in the real world.

The new debt money immediately dilutes the purchasing power of the money already in circulation and consumes real-world resources.

And that's the 'genius' of the system: the negative consequences of the loan transaction are suffered not by individuals, but by society as a whole.

Now, even more crucially, as loans are being paid back, money gets 'un-created'.
The reverse accounting entry takes place, and the money supply contracts by the same amount.

So why is all this so important?

Well, without debt, there would be no money.

Some people say, naively, 'ok, let's get out of debt and the problems will disappear'.

On the contrary. No debt means no money.

Hence, we are absolutely, hopelessly dependent on total indebtedness being perpetually increased.

We are absolutely, hopelessly dependent on banks injecting bank credit (by giving new loans) into the economy.

If, as now, the banks stop injecting credit into the economy (i.e. if no new loans are given), as the old loans get paid back money gets 'un-created' and the money supply contracts.

As the money supply contracts, there's less money around to be earned, and the borrowers have to compete for a smaller and smaller pie of money (remember, apart from the principal they also need to repay interest).

A deflationary spiral occurs: people postpone buying (as prices are falling), foreclosures and bankruptcies occur at increasing rates, and social upheaval follows.

Note also that if the rate at which the loans are being repaid is faster than the rate at which new loans are given out, then again the money supply is contracting and the authorities are worried about a deflationary spiral.

Also note that, as we mentioned, prices are a consequence of the size of the money supply, not the other way around.

When more money (debt) is around (easy credit by the banks), there's more money chasing products & services and the prices rise.

The reverse happens when credit is tight (money supply contraction and, as a consequence, price deflation).

So, if you think that a system in which there is absolute dependence on debt being perpetually increased is a bad system, well, you're not alone.
